The tour begins at Ghetto Heroes Square, formerly Plac Zgody, which was an important location in the Krakow ghetto. Your guide will explain the history of the square and its role during the liquidation of the ghetto.

Plaszow Concentration Camp – approximately 1 hour 45 minutes – entry free

Walk through the former Plaszow concentration camp site and learn about its history.

The camp was established by the Nazi German occupiers in October 1942 on the grounds of two Jewish cemeteries. It initially operated as a forced-labor camp for Jewish prisoners from the Krakow ghetto and was later designated a concentration camp.

During the tour, you will see the remaining historical sites and memorials of the former camp, including the Grey House, the ruins of the pre-burial hall, traces of the Jewish cemeteries and the former roll-call square.

The tour includes visits to memorials commemorating the victims of the camp, including the Monument of Torn-Out Hearts.

Your guide will explain the organization and operation of the camp, the conditions experienced by prisoners and the history of the executions and mass graves at the site.

The tour also covers Oskar Schindler and his connection to Plaszow. You will learn about his enamelware factory, the Jewish prisoners who worked there and the transfer of prisoners to his factory in Brunnlitz.
